The journals published by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya are committed to ensuring the research integrity of the outputs published.
UOC journals adopt the Code of Ethics approved and published in 2014, which is aligned with the code and ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).The editors of our scientific journals are committed to ensuring the originality of published articles, taking the appropriate control measures against plagiarism.
Along with the open access policy approved in 2010 by UOC’s governing body, this publishing option is meant to help increase the visibility of the University and showcase its excellence in terms of the quality of research and training. With regard to open access journals, the UOC has decided to publish following the gold route to open access. The open access policy of the University also undertakes to preserve and maintain perpetual access to documents stored in the repository, according with the green route to open access. For this reason, the articles published in scientific journals are stored in the UOC’s institutional repository (O2). In addition, all journals comply with the protocols and standards for metadata exchange (JATS, OAI-PMH, OAI-ORE and SWORD) to increase visibility, interoperability, dissemination and preservation of the contents.
UOC journals have an indexing plan to increase their visibility and thus be better positioned in national and international rankings that measure the impact of scholarly journals. It encourages the use of altmetrics to monitor the impact and spread throughout social networks.
